Helsinki, the white city of the north, a place where you can drink water right from the tap as it comes straight from the mountain springs, and where reindeer dishes are a popular item on the menu. If you want to learn more about the Finnish culture, it is worth visiting Kauppatori - a traditional market where from spring to autumn handicrafts, fruit, vegetables, fish, and local fast food is sold, i.e. lihapiirakka, and in October there is a silakkamarkkinat, i.e. a herring market. The country is inextricably associated with ending the day in a Finnish sauna under a starry sky and the Northern Lights.
The Moomins, although written in Swedish, is an integral part of Finnish culture. They have become so popular that they are the subject of many scholarly works. Tove Jansson spent most of her life on the Finnish island of Klovharu, which became the inspiration for the island where the Moomins lived. The author never sold the copyright despite numerous efforts by Walt Disney.
